IB Diploma and University Admission
The IB Diploma Programme is widely recognised by universities around the world and is highly regarded as a rigorous preparation for higher education.
Each year, IB results are sent to more than 4,500 universities in over 110 countries, giving students a clear and internationally understood academic profile when applying to university.

At many institutions, a student’s overall IB score and results in individual DP subjects form an important part of the admissions process. Universities may set specific subject requirements, Higher Level expectations or minimum point scores, meaning that the IB Diploma can serve as the main academic qualification used to assess university readiness.
A further advantage is that strong performance in Higher Level (HL) subjects may be recognised beyond admission itself. Depending on the university and degree programme, students can sometimes receive university credit, advanced standing or exemption from introductory courses.
The structure of the Diploma Programme also gives universities a detailed picture of a student’s academic preparation. Through subject study, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, students demonstrate not only subject knowledge, but also independent research, academic writing, critical thinking, time management and the ability to work across disciplines.
For students, this means that the IB Diploma is more than a school-leaving qualification. It provides a well-established and internationally recognised pathway to universities in the Czech Republic and abroad, while also helping students arrive better prepared for the demands of university-level study.
