Middle Years Programme (MYP)

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed for students aged approximately 11–16 and builds on the shared educational philosophy that connects all International Baccalaureate programmes.

In the MYP, learning is not only about acquiring knowledge, but about understanding, connecting and applying that knowledge in wider contexts. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore different perspectives, develop their own solutions, think critically, collaborate with others and communicate their ideas clearly.

Learning takes place in English, and subjects are connected through key and related concepts and global contexts. This helps students see relationships between what they learn in school and the wider world around them.

A central part of the MYP is the development of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills. Students learn how to communicate effectively, work with information, manage their own learning, collaborate with others, think critically and creatively, and reflect on their progress.

As students move through the programme, they gradually take greater responsibility for their own learning. They work regularly with feedback, reflect on their strengths and areas for growth, and learn to set meaningful goals for their next steps.

The MYP also develops international-mindedness, openness to different perspectives and an understanding of both local and global contexts. Its purpose is not only to prepare students for further study, but also to help them become independent, curious, thoughtful and responsible young people.

As part of an IB Continuum World School, the MYP forms a natural bridge between the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP), creating a coherent approach to learning across the whole school.

We learn and grow together as curious, reflective and responsible learners who are able to apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful, real-world contexts.
