About Us

Welcome to ISB!

International School of Brno was established in 2008 as a non-profit organization in the Czech Republic, with major support from Brno town hall and the South Moravian regional office. Our aim is to provide Kindergarten to High School students from all over the world with the necessary tools to become committed, lifelong learners and responsible, engaged citizens of the world.

ISB is an IB World School as well as fully accredited by the Council of International Schools.  Additionally, we are a member of Cambridge International Education (CIE) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). It is also recognized by the Czech Ministry of Education as an international elementary school.

Mission Statement:

We learn and grow in unique ways to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.”

The 3 Core Values of ISB:

Every interaction between ISB community members be conducted in a caring and sensitive manner.  We all must help make sure that ISB is a safe and nurturing environment for childrenNo member of the ISB community should ever be subjected to discrimination or abuse for any reason including but not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, lifestyle, or disabilities.

Hard Work

Every member of the community is expected to work towards achieving their personal best each and every day.  We are here to help students make decisions about how they learn best and take risks so that they are always willing to try to succeed in new ways.  To try and fail is always ok.  To fail to try is not.

Teaching and learning are most effective when students are having fun.  If it is not fun, it is not memorable.

What We Believe:

The school operates in a spacious and modern building, 15 minutes from the city center.  Students enjoy large, brightly lit classrooms, a culinary arts room, a multimedia room/library, a new gym, an outdoor pitch and a KG playground. The premises are shared with a local Czech Elementary school.

My two boys started school at ISB in September 2015. One in grade 1 and the other in grade 3. (Both are not native English speakers.) I (as a mom) found sending them to school for the first day really scary. New country, new city, new school and even a new Language. They came home happy and just after a couple of weeks the boys started to speak English and they were really beginning to feel at home in school. The Staff, teachers and other parents have been a great help with adjusting not only to school life, but also to life in Brno in general. The atmosphere in school is really welcoming and warm. There is always a listening ear.
Also the PTA has been a great help, connecting with other parents and really feeling part of the ISB community.
So far it has been a great experience for us!

Unfortunately I had to move with my son to the States due to work reasons. We miss ISB a lot in the States and already are planning return to the Czech Republic.
