The ISB team
I am very proud to announce that as of 19th of June ISB is a Primary Years Program (PYP) candidate school with the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB).
This will allow us to continue our work developing a primary and kindergarten curriculum that will offer the best education by building on the expertise we have as a school and combining it with the PYP.
The Primary years Programmme is a highly innovative and inquiry-led program, that challenges students to think creatively and critically, take responsibility for their learning and explore local and global issues in real-life contexts. It matches completely with the mission, values and teaching style of ISB.
All year, our team has been working very hard towards achieving this goal.
On behalf of the entire primary team, thank you for a fantastic year of working together and helping our students grow. We are very excited to continuing that in 2018/2019.
We are proud to announce the patronage of Brno Mayor Mr. Petr Vokřál of Colours and Flavours of ISB Festival which will take place on 26th of May at ISB. What an honor!
As every year ISB has organized swimming lessons for our primary students in years 2 to 6. Year 1 and Kindergarten swimming will take place separately in May.
In total there will be four 45-minute lessons taught in ability groups led by qualified instructors. For all students swimming is mandatory and replaces regular PE time. If a student is not swimming for health reasons, they will be expected to travel to the swimming pool with the group and watch the lessons. There will be no in-school supervision provided.
The swimming dates are in the school calendar and take place on the following dates:
April 6, 13, 20 and 27
Students will be leaving school on Fridays at approximately 10:00am and coming back at 12:40 for lunch.
All participants will need following items:
Students who do not swim will also need to get changed into their shorts and wear plastic shoes.
Please note that parents can observe the lessons from the swimming pool cafeteria however they cannot access the swimming pool or the changing rooms before, during or after the lessons. Thank you for your understanding.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

You are cordially invited to the ISB Summer Production - The Factory, 21st of June at ISB.
There will be two performances:
The Chocolate Factory looms large over the city, a place of magic, mystery and intrigue. No-one has ever been spotted going in or out of the factory. Its owner, Factory Man, has never been seen and remains an elusive figure. Yet all of that is about to change...
Looking for his successor, Factory Man invites seven children to the factory to compete in The Grand Choc-Off, a series of tasks designed to test the candidates' pluck, tenacity and character, and determine who will be the future of the factory.
Who will triumph? Who will succumb to the pressure? Will the secrets of Factory Man ever be revealed? Come with us on this journey and discover the magical world of The Factory.
You may have noticed that ISB is hosting special visitors this week - these are the members of the Council of International School. Yesterday they also met with the representatives of both primary and secondary councils.

The ISB Drama Club shared their acting skills with the public for the first time at the Expart Festival at Fléda last Friday. We are proud to say that they did really well. Here are a few pictures from the Labyrinth performance.
The children had a 'spotto' chart to tick off the places they saw along the way. They also added some of their own, such as waste disposal, an old-people's home and specific shops. We visited the police station too, where they got to see how the police monitor the area with cameras that can zoom in really close to the target spot! The children asked some really good questions that received interesting answers!
Year 6 will host a very special guest today - Mr. Roman Ondrůj, head of regional news on Czech TV. The students will interview him about how the news is gathered and broadcast. Later in October, Year 6 plans to visit the Czech TV studio which has recently moved to Brno - Líšeň.

Last Sunday, some of the ISB teachers and staff took part in the Soup Kitchen project. We met at school early and started cooking for those in need. After finishing the soup, we drove it to the center to hand it out together with coffee, tea, and cake. A few ISB students helped and we were very proud of them! ISB will take part in the soup kitchen project on a regular basis, a couple of times per year. We would also like to ask for donations of male and female clothes for this organization. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Ms. Kata at email@example.com. Thank you!
ISB will be embarking on an international trip to Dublin, Ireland.
This trip is meant to take students into a new environment, give them the experience of traveling in a group, and teaches them to be respectful of the locations and cultures they encounter. This trip will give students the opportunity to bond outside of the classroom and gain new perspectives on the world.
