It is always exciting to welcome new students to ISB. In order to be maximally accommodating, registration at ISB is possible throughout the entire school year (assuming there are free places in the classes). While we understand that every family's situation is unique and therefore might require a individualized registration process, the following is the preferred registration procedure at ISB.
Prior to formally applying to the school, families are welcome to visit ISB anytime. ISB staff members will be happy to provide a tour of the facilities, to introduce families to teachers and students and to answer any questions they might have about the school and the registration process. These visits are best timed during the school day in order for visiting families to observe the school in action.
We understand that sometimes, more than one visit is necessary as sometimes the whole family is not in Brno for the initial visit. It is not a problem to arrange multiple visits. It is very important that students get a chance to see their potential school as moving cities and schools is a very big change for a family.
To arrange a visit, please contact

Once the decision to move to Brno and to register at ISB has been made, families should provide the school with the following documents:
Once the registration package is received by the school, it is then necessary to confirm incoming students' current stage in their education and their needs. A date and time is arranged when the incoming students are assessed in English, Mathematics and Science in order to be sure that they are placed in the most appropriate classroom and to determine whether any additional support is necessary (EAL, SEN, Advancement, etc.). In most cases, students are placed with their peer group; however, in order to be sure that all students are appropriately challenged each and every day, the school prefers to use internal assessments to make this determination. It is preferred that these assessments take place prior to the projected start date.
For students entering primary years, ISB does not recommend placing students in a lower grade level. Instead, the school will recommend that the student receive EAL support in accordance with their needs and will monitor their progress carefully.
For students entering Secondary and High School, it is possible that an individual education plan (IEP) will be recommended in order to ensure that the student is given time to attain a minimal level of English proficiency prior to starting the Cambridge IGCSE or IB DP. These decisions will be made collaboratively, with families included in the process. The aim in these situations is always to do what is in the student's best interest.
ISB can provide career guidance in order to ensure that upon leaving ISB, students have options and/or have taken the necessary steps towards a career path they would like to pursue.
Once the assessment process has been completed and the plan for the incoming student is established, the Education Contract and Payment Agreement can be signed. The Education Contract is always signed between the Legal Guardian and ISB; the Payment Agreement can be signed between ISB and the remitter. In cases where the Payment Agreement will be signed with a third party, the Legal Guardian is asked to ensure that contact is established. These documents are best signed as soon possible in order to guarantee placement (please note that places are reserved until the registration fee is received – See ISB Tuition Structure).
