"LEARN, GROW, AND BE UNIQUE WITH ISB"

APRIL 2025 NEWSLETTER

EARLY YEARS

Knowledgeable Mathematicians

Our Blue Birds engage in fun activities to discover the concept of ‘ minus’. It also supports their ability to visualize numbers and grasp the relationship between addition and subtraction. Early exposure to subtraction builds a strong foundation for more complex math concepts as they progress in their learning.

Creative Pattern Makers

Pattern making in the early years helps children develop important cognitive skills, such as logical thinking and sequencing. It fosters creativity while strengthening their understanding of repetition, which is a key mathematical concept. Additionally, recognizing and creating patterns lays the groundwork for later learning in mathematics, literacy, and problem-solving

PRIMARY

Matter Masters

Our students explored the different states of matter (solid, liquid, and gas) through hands-on experiments and interactive lessons. Matter Masters researched in pairs and discussed how different states of matter change. They shared their understanding through an interactive flip chart for others to learn from.

Pi Day

Our second annual Math Olympics was a thrilling Pi Day celebration, where students from Year 1-6 teamed up in mixed-ability groups to tackle Olympic-inspired math challenges. Through teamwork, problem-solving, and a love for numbers, our young mathematicians showcased their skills in a fun and competitive atmosphere.

SECONDARY

Science Fair 2025

This year's Science Fair was a success! Students showcased curiosity, creativity, and hard work through their projects.  As always, we are very proud of our young scientists’ display of critical thinking and experiment design.

Workshop with Open Garden

What else to do on such a sunny day than build your own solar-powered car!  Our Year 8 students recently got the chance to participate in an amazing workshop by Open Garden Brno & Relay on the future of engineering with a  focus on sustainable energy.

HIGH SCHOOL

ISB Ball 2025

The annual ISB Ball has once again come and gone. This year, it was organised by our graduating class and they made sure that everyone was entertained and in the right spirit on the night.  Once again, we had some amazing musical performances, lots of dancing and great food.  See everyone again next year!

Mathematical Experiments

What are false positives and false negatives in experimental testing? The Year 11 mathematics students conducted probability experiments to explore the concept of conditional probability and communicated their understandings and predictions of the outcomes.

PYP Well-Being at ISB

Well-being Update: Cyber Safety Success!

We have just wrapped up our Cyber Safety unit with a series of insightful and engaging school-wide assemblies led by expert guest speaker Johannes Claassen. Students across all grade levels participated in discussions about online responsibility, digital footprints, and staying safe in the virtual world. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and curiosity as they reflected on the importance of making smart choices online.

To get a glimpse of what our PYP students took away from the assembly, check out this spreadsheet, where their answers are being updated daily! We encourage you to take a look and see the valuable lessons they’ve learned. Additionally, we would love your feedback to make next year’s event even better. Please take a moment to fill out our parent survey and share your thoughts. Your input is invaluable in shaping future well-being initiatives at our school!

Next month, we hope to host a mini-workshop for parents on parenting styles and the benefits of setting healthy boundaries. This session will provide valuable insights and practical strategies to support positive family dynamics and child development. If you’re interested in attending, please fill out this form to let us know! Your input will help us tailor the workshop to best meet your needs. We look forward to connecting with you and fostering meaningful discussions on this important topic!
