"LEARN, GROW, AND BE UNIQUE WITH ISB"

SEPTEMBER 2023 NEWSLETTER

Dear ISB Students, Staff, Partners & Friends,

ISB has just begun our 15th school year!

We are very much looking forward to a year of wonderful learning experiences in which we will continue to promote critical thinking and compassion in our students.  We truly believe that this is the only path towards making the world a more peaceful and rational place.

To our students, we will work tirelessly to support you and all your talents so that you are empowered to shape your future and create the world you want for yourselves while at ISB and after you graduate.

Have a great school year!

Jan Švihálek, Head of School

First Day

Welcome back to school, we are so excited to kick off 2023/2024 and to meet and greet our old students combined with many new students who have joined us this year. We are looking forward to a great school year ahead together. Please find below just a few snippets, starting from our summer and leading into the first week of school.

End of Summer Band Camp

We are incredibly proud of our Music programme at ISB, which includes the annual Band Camp.  Once again, the ISB bands headed off to a log cabin in the mountains for a week to explore music and have fun at full volume.

EARLY YEARS

Exploring the Alphabet

Year 1 started their week engaging in creative literacy centres. Students were given the opportunity to engage in meaningful and fun activities to promote strong literacy foundation skills. These are the building blocks which will help them to read and write effectively for years to come.

PRIMARY

Building Relationships

Our first week is focusing on teamwork and communication skills. Creating strong relationship skills is key to a successful academic year ahead. Here our Year 5 students are busy saving Fred, a hapless worm who has managed to capsize his boat. Which group will manage to save him first?

SECONDARY

Establishing Working Relationships

As we come together for another great year of learning, it is important to establish clear expectations for ourselves and each other.  Year 7 created a Class Charter to communicate what they want the classroom environment to look and feel like.  An excellent way to get started.

HIGH SCHOOL

Getting started with Careers Counselling

It is always very exciting working with the students as they plan the next steps in their education.  Our careers counsellor, Petra Frisk met with the Year 12s to start the process of university applications.  This group has a bright future ahead of them and we can’t wait to see what directions they will take.
